In a previous post, I talked about artist Christian “Lake” Wahle. I discovered his art at Cassiopeia. Bar, café, rock-climbing walls, abandoned hangars (6, 8, 10, who knows?), graffiti enough to make you dizzy, a place that screams out Berlin in the fantastic Freidrichshain neighborhood, facing the river and Kreuzberg.
Here, unless I am much mistaken, anything can happen. Are there laws, restrictions, judgments? You want to dance? dance; you want to paint? paint; you want to drink? drink, and if it’s love you’re looking for, you’ll find it, at least for a night. This spot welcomes artists, DJs, hipsters, punks, German and everyone else who have come to Berlin in search of a place to unwind and have fun like in the 70s. I haven’t yet been to the never-ending parties (maybe tonight?) but I did sit for a beer.
Keep this address preciously in case you’re ever in the area. The space, even empty, is worth the trip. Alright, I’m off, and I hope I tortured you at least a little.
