An article was recently published by the well-respected Brand New concerning the new Greater Montreal logo that was done last October. Conclusion: it is fabulous and very well-executed.
It is quite the opposite from the Québécois’ view, who do not seem to like the logo at all (see also here and here). Personally, I agree with Brand New and I, too, love it.
For those of you who have not yet seen it, they plan on using it only in communications between the partners of Greater Montreal.
The M monogram is divided into 5 parts, representing the 5 sectors that make up the Greater Montreal area.
It expresses diversity (geographic, economic, cultural, communal, etc.), freedom and openness of mind, in addition to being relaxed and friendly.
The official fonts for the Greater Montreal brand are Dancer Sans and Dancer Serif
On top of the original version, the colours of the logo can be changed depending on the use, what with the monogram that can be adapted to a specific activity, a partner, an event…
