Evolution of the Web: from 1.0 to 4.0

We know we are currently in the Web 2.0 era. But what’s next? Here’s the short story.

1.0 The Web (original) Connects information
2.0 The Social WebConnects people
3.0 The Semantic WebConnects knowledge
4.0 The Ubiquitous WebConnects intelligence

Toast has partnered with a new research group from UQAM (a Québec public university), the Col@b. This type of R&D, such as the evolution of the socio-technical Web, is what we work on with this group.

Could u explain more about web 4.0?

    • Alexandre Gravel dit:

In Web 3.0, knowledge (content) will connect itself to one another through aumatisation, facilitating navigation through the ever growing quantity available.

In web 4.0 (and we’re far away from this), knowledge will actually evolve from its current base, meaning that we’ll rather be talking about connecting intelligence to one another in that the more we connect, the more we will understand and create new knowledge.

Hope this is a initial path of clarification!
